School/College Affiliation at Walden: Currently full time faculty teaching an mentoring EdD and PhD doctoral students, College of Education and Leadership Associate Dean; Program Director for  Doctoral Programs: EdD and PhD, Chair, Education-K-12 Leadership, On-line faculty teaching PhD Education students. Walden presenter for residency sessions, five times a year across the United States and internationally.  Consultant to school districts and universities regarding program evaluations, online education, development of graduate programs and grant writing.  Development and delivery of professional development training sessions. Curriculum writing and review for online programs.

A Brief Narrative: My background is somewhat like a patchwork quilt that has included beginning as a substitute teacher, remedial reading aide, teaching at the elementary, middle and secondary levels. While the next phase of my life lead me smack dab into leadership, elementary principal, state education gifted director, assistant superintendent for a regional office in NY (BOCES) serving five counties and superintendent of schools. Higher education experiences have been as an adjunct instructor in community collages and universities throughout IL, MO, and NY. Most recently, I’ve served in many administrative and academic positions with Walden University, they have been exciting opportunities.  

 

Online training:  Background training in using Blackboard and e-College Platforms.

Online teaching experiences:  Teach 4-8 courses a year; lead teacher who creates the courses for others to teach for three years, evaluate programs and provide recommendations for improvement of online courses. Serve as a residency instructor for 5 and 10 day residencies about online learning. Advisor and mentor for 20-30 students each year. Dissertation Chair and committee responsibilities throughout the year. I’ve led webinars and live meetings.

Worked with each of the professional programs at Thomas University to help them create undergraduate and graduate classes. Worked with the Education and Nursing Department to create their masters program with online courses. Responsible for updating the catalog and website to make these implementations. Responsible for presentations to the Board of Trustees, local hospitals, and community to advertise the new programs.  Developed distance education grants.

Specialization at Walden:  My educational expertise/experiences are in K-12 leadership and teaching, qualitative research, reading/literacy, and student retention. Most recently teaching full time in the higher education division as well as K-12 leadership. My dissertation topic was about interagency collaborations and building systems to serve the needs of at risk students and their families.
